The AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow in 2019 celebrates the 100th anniversary of the opening of the university. The magnificent Jubilee will begin on October 4, 2018. In the history of AGH University of Science and Technology, two events are of particular importance. In 1913, as a result of many-year endeavours, a mining school was establishedin Krakow. The outbreak of World War I made it impossible to begin the first academic year. Another important year for us is 1919, when after regaining independence by Poland the Mining Academy was opened.

The development of AGH UST in the course of the last one hundred years has been impressive. Since its establishment, the university has been dedicated to educating professional staff for industry, and its good reputation, thanks to which it is recognisable all over the world, the university acquired thanks to high-class scientific research.
