The main goal of the Faculty of Mathematics & Natural Sciences, University of Rzeszow is to conduct scientific research on problems that will ensure a constant presence on the national and international map of science in the areas of mathematics, physics, computer science and technical sciences. The modern scientific and didactic apparatus and premises base, which was put into use thanks to the significant financial resources obtained by the Faculty and the University, has allowed to significantly improve and broaden the didactic offer, ensuring its comprehensiveness in relation to the fields of study and levels of education. The scientific research are concerned in convex analysis, complex analysis, generalized functions and lattice theory, differential equations and applications of mathematics, theoretical and experimental physics.

A constant element of the Faculty's strategy is to conduct courses in mathematical, physical and technical sciences, first and second degree, full-time and part-time (bachelor's, engineering and master's courses on general and practical profiles) and post-graduate studies. Based on the basic research conducted at the Faculty, students' education is carried out with particular concern for its quality and the possibility of future practical applications. Education programs take into account the current state of knowledge and students have the opportunity to participate in research carried out at the Faculty. The Faculty develops various interdisciplinary forms of education. Based on modern e-learning equipment, the Faculty launches distance training.

Second Announcement

The Organizing Committee of the conference On the Trail of Women in Mathematics - in Honor of Sofia Kowalewska, which will be held in 2019, August 31 – September 2 in Kraków, would like to remind important facts and dates related to the conference.

  • We express our deep gratitude to the excellent plenary lecturers who agreed to present their lectures during the conference, that is Agnieszka Bartłomiejczyk, Jan Boroński, Alessandra Celletti, Stanisław Domoradzki, Tadeusz Iwaniec, Bronisław Jakubczyk, Magdalena Nockowska-Rosiak, Marta Lewicka, Anna Zatorska-Goldstein, Anna Żeromska. Among these lecturers you can find both experienced scientists who have been pursuing their scientific career for years, as well as young persons with significant achievements, but a little less known in the scientific community. This is a pioneering idea of PTKM.
  • The conference will be held in the link between the A3 and A4 buildings, in the A3 building and in the B7 building of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics AGH, al. A. Mickiewicza 30, Kraków.
  • We encourage you to contact the organizers of thematic sessions and to propose lectures within the sessions. We remind that up to now the following session have been proposed:

  • We invite you to register for the conference, registration deadline is June 30, 2019.
  • We would like to remind that a reduced conference fee (400 PLN) should be paid by June 30, 2019. After this date, the fee increases to 500 PLN.
  • We invite you to notify active participation in the discussion panel on "Mobbing at universities". People who want to share their observations in a visible way of a longer speech are asked to contact Urszula Foryś This email address is being protected from spambots. Discussion panels are another pioneering idea of PTKM. This formula has been fully accepted by the scientific community and borrowed to the programs of many other conferences.

The conference is one of the important elements of the celebration of the 100th Jubilee of AGH and 100th Jubilee of PTM, as well as the part of celebration of the Year of Mathematics in Poland,  which – in accordance with the resolution of the Senate RP – the year 2019 was established.

The Organizing Committe

First Announcement

Polish Women in Mathematics  and the Faculty of Applied Mathematics of the AGH University of Science and Technology

are pleased to invite to a conference

On the Trail of Women in Mathematics - in Honor of Sofia Kowalewska

that will be held on  August 31 - September 2, 2019.

Venue of the conference - the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Buildings A4, B7, AGH University of Science and Technology, al. A. Mickiewicza 30, Kraków

This is the second conference in the series “On the Trail of Women in Mathematics”. Our aim is to promote acheviements of women, whose research, activity and publications put a significant contribution to science, mainly mathematics and related sciences.

The conference is organized in honor of “Princess of mathematics” - Professor Kowalewska and her noteworthy contributions to analysis, partial differential equations and mechanics together with her pioneering role as a female mathematician.

The conference is also intended to be one of the elements of the celebration of the 100th Jubilee of AGH, the Year of Mathematics and the 100th Anniversary of the Polish Mathematical Society.

Within the conference, latest achievements of researchers working in the field of mathematical and related sciences will be presented. The conference topics will cover large range of issues, mainly related to differential equations and their applications, but not limiting to these problems; various branches of mathematics shall be represented, as Sofia Kowalewska influenced wide range of these branches. The conference program will include plenary lectures, thematic and a poster sessions. An important element of the conference will be a discussion panel “Mobbing at universities”.

We are very happy to invite you to participate to our conference by giving a talk on your specialized area as participant.

Thematic sessions are invited for submission. A minimum of four speakers centering on a specific topic will be accepted. Send your proposal to the organizers This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. until May 30, 2019.
